Zhengzhou Airport

Zhengzhou Airport in the Henan Province was the 17th busiest in the People’s Republic of China in 2014 with over 15 million passengers. Substantial enlargement of the airport is under way with the construction of a new terminal building and an additional 77 aircraft stands. It is now well prepared for the forthcoming winter season thanks to the recent delivery of five Multihog multi purpose tractors which are equipped with a variety of snow and ice clearance attachments.

The machines will mainly be used airside to ensure quick and effective stand clearance to reduce any impact of bad weather, which typically occurs in the region from December to March.  Since Multihog developed its front-mounted combi snow plough and brush attachment this has become a very popular choice for customers at airports around the world and is seen as a very effective solution for initial ploughing and final sweeping. Zhengzhou is using the combi unit, along with rear-mounted de-icing sprayers on their Multihog multi purpose tractors. The purchase of some front mounted road sweeper attachments also offers the airport the additional versatility to deploy the Multihogs in the summer months.

Having used tractors for apron clearance with limited success in the past, Zhengzhou wanted to source a more reliable system for the new upgraded airport. Multihog’s local partner in the region recommended Multihog as the solution, which perfectly suited all the airport’s requirements and the five base units plus attachments were shipped over in the first half of 2015 in preparation for winter.
