Jobbax AB, Sweden

Jobbax AB is a facilities maintenance company based near the city of Gothenburg in Sweden. Owner Amer Boshnjaku provides sanitation and maintenance services to a range of municipal, business and residential customers across the City and its suburbs.
Amer took delivery of his first Multihog, a CV 350 sweeper, in April 2020 and at that stage also placed a preliminary order for a second unit, which was delivered in May 2021. “It was an easy decision for me. I had rented the sweeper from my local dealer, Sweep Sopmaskiner, for a week’s trial before I ordered my first unit. Based on that experience, coupled with the fact that Sweep are selling these machines, I knew it must be a really good piece of equipment. They are extremely knowledgeable in this sector, and highly selective when it comes to the equipment they sell. And my instincts were right – our two machines have been operating flawlessly.”

Apart from sweeping, the two Jobbax Multihogs also carry out winter maintenance for clients. The machines are fitted with a variety of attachments, including V plows, tipping sand spreaders and drop spreaders. Whether they are sweeping or removing snow depends entirely on the weather, according to Amer. “Our winter weather here in Gothenburg is really quite unpredictable. Last winter we had a lot of snowfall, other years we’ve had absolutely none. But I guess I would say that we use our Multihogs for sweeping 80% of the time, and for winter maintenance the other 20%, if I had to put a number on it.”

The versatility of the Multihog CV was the key factor for Amer. “This machine is truly 2 machines in 1, and it represents great value for money. It’s every bit as good at winter maintenance as it is when it’s sweeping. And believe me, that’s incredibly rare in the equipment industry. I’ve essentially saved the cost of buying separate machines for winter and sweeping. Instead of having lots of different pieces of dedicated equipment, now I just have to maintain, and train operators on, one type of machine which can work all year round.”
Jobbax will continue to operate their old machine in line with their policy of buying good quality equipment and running it for as long as it makes sense, in terms of sustainability. However, when that machine reaches end of life, the Multihog will definitely replace it. At the moment, the Multihogs have simply expanded the Jobbax fleet, allowing Amer to take on new, and more diverse work.

Why did Amer opt for Multihog? His reasons are numerous, but the local dealer was key. “A big part of my decision was down to the dealer being Sweep Sopmaskiner. It’s so important for winter & sanitation contractors, having a good dealer for after-sales service. And Sweep are one of the best, both in terms of knowledge and service. They know sweeping equipment inside out, and if they’re selling it, I know it must be good. Apart from that, I liked the environmentally-friendly engine (Stage V), it’s more powerful than our old sweeper and it performs a lot better when working on uphill slopes.”

Ergonomics are also important to Amer. “As an owner-operator, I’ve driven it a lot. And the health of my staff is a priority for me. I know from experience how difficult and tiring it can be to drive an old, bumpy, cramped machine. This isn’t one of those. The ergonomics are really good. It drives much better than our old one, and I really like the electric gas pedal. You don’t have to press your foot hard to operate or drive it, and believe me, that makes a big difference when you’re doing lots of long shifts!”

Apart from ergonomics, economics also played a part in Amer’s decision. “There are a few small things which make all the difference to a contractor like me. This sweeper is truly 40 km/h, and that speed is very important when moving between job sites. Secondly, I believe that the fuel consumption with the new engine is much lower than our old machine. So between the versatility and the fuel consumption, I feel like you get good value for money with the Multihog. Lastly, I really think the way the contaminated water is recirculated to spray down the hose is innovative. Firstly, of course, that’s great from a water wastage/environmental perspective, but also the less time the machine is spending on refilling the water tank, the more time it’s out working. And as a contractor I’m very aware that when it’s not working, it’s costing money. All of these seemingly small things – the fuel consumption, the high travel speed and the water recirculation – really do add up to big benefits when operating in the field.”

Amer has no plans to add to his range of attachments at the moment, as they are perfect for the contracts he has currently secured. “I think it’s great that I can pick and choose attachments for this sweeper. Right now, I’ve got everything I need for my current contracts, however I also know that I can quickly diversify by simply adding an attachment, should I ever want or need to change my business model. In facilities maintenance, nothing is guaranteed from one season to the next, and having this safety net in my equipment is very reassuring for me.”
