Case Studies

Liege Airport

Liege Airport has two Multihog multipurpose tractors which are used for a wide variety of airside tasks including snow removal, stand de-icing, line removal and fork-lifting, bringing the total number of Multihogs at the airport to three following delivery of TNT’s machine a few months ago which is in operation at the company’s European Express Centre. According to Airport Plant Manager Julian Pauwels the purchase of the Multihogs was based on a number of factors such as the tractor’s compact size and robust build. A crucial issue was also that it is an all-seasonal machine and is not simply allocated for winter services alone.

With their ability to carry an almost endless range of attachments, Liege’s Multihogs will do the work previously carried out by a number of different pieces of equipment such as tractors, forklifts and trailers to maintain over 1 million square metres of concrete airside. “Multihog’s versatility will be a huge advantage for our airside operations,” says Mr. Pauwels, “and will enable us to make significant cost savings. Our drivers also appreciate its quality build and ease of operation!”

When bad weather strikes the combi snow-plough and brush attachment will essentially transform the Multihogs into 3-in-1 machines when combined with the rear mounted 1200 litre de-icing sprayer. These allow the drivers to carry out de-icing, snow brushing and ploughing from the comfort of the cab without the need to manually switch attachments.
